About me

Hello my name is Daan the creator of this website. On this page I will be giving a bit of information about myself, what i have done in school and for work and of course what kind of climbing and what mountaineering routes I have done.

Carreer
I did VWO in highschool and am now in my third year of my bachelors in chemistry. I mainly focus on theoretical and computational chemistry. Besides studying I also have a part-time job at the Bever, a outdour clothes/gear shop, where I have been working for over 3 years now.

Climbing experience
In the summer of 2022 I did a summer mountaineering course for teenagers. This was my first encounter with mountaineering and climbing, after this course i started occasionally climbing indoors with a friend with which I did the summer mountaineering course. Since then I have been climbing more and more and have also been climbing outside. In 2024 I did an indoor lead climbig course and have been regularly lead climbing, over the years I have seen some real progression going from just barely doing 5b to now climbing 6b+ and sometimes with strugles a 6c.

Mountaineering experience
As said before in the summer of 2022 I did a summer mountaineering course in this course i learned how to manage rope, multiple knots, rescue techniques, how to walk in differnt terrain, how to walk crampons and the use of crampons and an ice axe. in the years following the course I did not do much with this acquired knowledge except how to walk on different terrain, because I did go on multiple hiking trips in the mountains. Then this past year, 2025, in the summer I once again did a summer mountaineering course but this time better prepared. In the course I learned a lot of thing I still vaguely remenbered but also a lot of new things. In particular during the course we did a multitude of tours which really helped to actually bring the learned techniques into practice.
